Indian Lions Demanding Space This World Lion Day

Posted by

India has the world’s only Asiatic lion population which is why protecting them is crucial. While the Indian government has managed to revive their population from just a dozen to 523 as per the last Census, they are still threatened by shrinking space. Lions eliminate 20% of their population each year due to inter-pride clashes which is why they are in greater need for space. However, political ego clashes has been long postponing translocation of Gir lions to adjoining Kuno reserve in Madhya Pradesh.
