New Tuberculosis Drive To Eradicate TB By 2025

Posted by

Tuberculosis is killing Indians in lakhs each year but it is yet to see the Polio-like aggression of the government in eradicating it. India has had a National TB Program since 1962 but it has done little to reduce the number of people who die of it every year. In 2012 it came out with Revised National TB Program which seems to have some revised vigour. Door-to-door diagnosis campaigns have been launched and they have detected an astounding number of positive cases in the fortnight long drives in Maharashtra and Uttar Pradesh.
However, if India will be able to meet its goal of erradicating TB by 2025 remains a question.
